Azerbaijan and the United States: Partners in Trade and Commerce

Azerbaijan enjoys being America’s biggest trade partner in the South Caucasus and has successfully pursued major mutually beneficial trade deals.

For example, Azerbaijan signed several major contracts with Boeing and the national air carrier – “Azerbaijan Airlines” - is the first company in the region to include the Boeing 787 “Dreamliners” in its fleet. Currently, “Azerbaijan Airlines” operates a direct flight between Baku and New York. In April of 2016, Azerbaijan and the United States signed the bilateral “Open Skies” agreement.

Azerbaijan’s two largest airlines signed new deals to buy Made-in-America Boeing Jetliners in 2017 and together, these $3 billion worth contracts will contribute to the American economy and help support thousands of jobs across the United States.

Trade with Azerbaijan helps to support more than 11,000 jobs throughout the United States.

The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan has invested approximately $6 billion in the United States, including in the U.S. Treasury, Federal Home Loan Bank, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bonds, as well as in U.S. corporate debt and equities.
