Novruz holiday was celebrated in Washington, D.C., organized by the embassies of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in the United States.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, representatives of U.S. government agencies, public figures, experts, as well as community members and students from the organizing countries. The event was hosted by Turkish Ambassador to the U.S. Sedat Önal, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the U.S. Khazar Ibrahim, as well as ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, who expressed their satisfaction with the celebration of the Novruz holiday, which is the common cultural heritage of Turkic-speaking countries.
It was noted that Novruz is a holiday of friendship, new beginnings, and sends a message of peace and equality to the world. It was emphasized that similar activities will be continued in the future to strengthen common cultural ties.
Later, the event featured dances and music from participating countries, including the "Arshin Mal Alan" and "Nalbaki" dances, and the music "My Azerbaijan" sung by Rashid Behbudov by Azerbaijani children living in the United States.
Finally, the winners of the "Novruz and Spring" children's drawing competition organized by the embassies were announced and presented with certificates.
