Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis Celebrated in Washington, D.C.

A reception was held in Washington, D.C. to mark the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year.

The event brought together the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States of America, diplomats from other Turkic countries accredited in the U.S., the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, as well as representatives of Azerbaijani and other Turkic communities in the U.S.  

The reception opened with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Addressing the guests, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States, H.E. Khazar Ibrahim, noted that this year’s celebration was specially organized together with representatives of the Turkic world. He emphasized that Azerbaijan currently holds the chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States and underscored President Ilham Aliyev’s designation of the Organization of Turkic States as one of Azerbaijan’s key foreign policy priorities. The Ambassador added expressed bringing together representatives of the brotherly Turkic states.

In his remarks, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, also expressed his honor in participating in the event dedicated to the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis. He noted that December 15 has been recognized for the first time by UNESCO as the World Turkic Language Family Day, describing this development as a significant milestone for Turkic culture. He emphasized that the Turkic world is stronger when united.

The event concluded with musical performances by Tereza Elizarova, featuring national music from Azerbaijan and other Turkic-speaking countries.
