Azerbaijan’s Independence Day Celebrated in the United States
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States hosted a celebration in honor of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, bringing together members of the Azerbaijani-American community and international guests.
The event welcomed approximately 200 attendees from across the United States, including Azerbaijani community members and foreign guests. The program began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim, speaking at the event, praised the Azerbaijani community in the U.S. for its strong unity and active engagement. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support for the diaspora and highlighted the positive trajectory of U.S.-Azerbaijani relations, describing this as a testament to the success of Azerbaijani diplomacy.
Ambassador Ibrahim also noted the increasing presence of Azerbaijani students in American educational institutions and commended the community’s achievements in various fields. He emphasized the importance of cultural ties, noting the attendance of American friends and families of Azerbaijani community members as a reflection of growing awareness and appreciation for Azerbaijan’s development, heritage, and statehood traditions.
The cultural portion of the evening featured a performance by Azerbaijani children singing “Azerbaijan,” a beloved song by Rashid Behbudov. This was followed by a concert showcasing traditional Azerbaijani music.
The celebration concluded with a spirited group performance of the traditional “Yallı” dance, uniting attendees in a vibrant display of cultural pride and community spirit.
