The governor of the U.S. state of Maryland signed a statement regarding the Nowruz holiday

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has signed a proclamation regarding the Nowruz holiday.

 

The proclamation states that Nowruz is an ancient and joyful holiday celebrating the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature. It is emphasized that this holiday has been celebrated for more than 3 thousand years and is known by millions of people around the world. Nowruz is characterized as a symbol of peace, renewal and cultural unity.

 

"Azerbaijani communities around the world celebrate the holiday of Nowruz with traditions, including events symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, music, dance, festive feasts, and cultural activities. The state of Maryland is proud to be home to communities that make significant contributions to the cultural, social, and economic fabric of our state, including Azerbaijanis. Celebrating Nowruz strengthens our bonds of friendship with Azerbaijani Americans and their communities. By recognizing and celebrating Nowruz, we honor and promote Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage," the proclamation said.

 

The state governor declared March 20 as Nowruz Day in Maryland in a proclamation.
