The Azerbaijani community in the United States celebrated the Novruz holiday.

A festive event dedicated to Novruz was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States and held in Maryland for members of the Azerbaijani community.

The event brought together members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, international guests, and Azerbaijani students studying in the United States.

The celebration began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In her remarks, Embassy Counselor Vusala Mehdiyeva noted that Novruz is one of the most ancient and cherished traditions of the Azerbaijani people. She stated that the holiday holds special significance in uniting the Azerbaijani community living in the United States. V. Mehdiyeva emphasized that such events play an important role in preserving national and cultural values, strengthening community solidarity, and promoting Azerbaijani culture.

She also highlighted the importance of children’s and youth participation, noting that growing up with national traditions and cultural heritage is essential for passing these values on to future generations. On behalf of the Embassy, she congratulated Azerbaijani community on the occasion of Novruz and extended her best wishes.

The cultural program featured performances by young Azerbaijani participants, including traditional dances such as “Nelbeki,” “Uzundere,” “Bizim Veten,” and “Yalli.”

In addition, young musicians performed piano pieces including “Aman Ayrilig,” “Sari Gelin,” “Gubanin Agh Almasi,” “Intizar,” “Nazende Sevgilim,” “Chirpinirdi Gara Deniz,” and “Ay Lachin.”

The event concluded with the presentation of traditional Azerbaijani cuisine to the guests.
