Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States of America Participated in “Passport DC” Festival
As part of the “Passport DC – Around the World Embassy Tour” festival held in Washington, D.C., the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States of America opened its doors to local and international visitors.
Organized annually, the event serves as an important platform for promoting the cultures of different nations and strengthening mutual understanding and cultural dialogue among peoples.
During the festival, Secretary of the Washington, D.C., Kimberly Bassett visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan, where she was introduced to Azerbaijani culture and national cuisine.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Khazar Ibrahim, presented the guest with a painting by Azerbaijani artist Nubar Azimova dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the United States and U.S.-Azerbaijan bilateral relations.
During the presentation, Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim noted the symbolic significance of the occasion. He stated that the tree located at the site of the presentation had been planted by Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, Azerbaijan’s first Ambassador to the United States. The Ambassador emphasized that Hafiz Pashayev, who currently serves as the rector of one of Azerbaijan’s leading higher education institutions, played a key role in laying the foundation for U.S.-Azerbaijan friendship and the strategic partnership that exists today.
Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim also noted that the same day marked the 85th anniversary of Hafiz Pashayev’s birth, adding that the artwork was presented in front of the tree planted by him as a tribute both on his behalf and his own.
The sides also exchanged views on the importance of cultural cooperation and the contribution of such initiatives to strengthening friendly relations between Azerbaijan and the United States.
Kimberly Bassett highly appreciated the active participation of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in cultural events.
As part of the festival, members of the Azerbaijani community performed national dances and presented a musical program. Visitors were introduced to traditional Azerbaijani clothing and informed about their history and distinctive features.
More than 1,000 visitors attended the Embassy of Azerbaijan during the event. Guests were provided with extensive information about Azerbaijan’s ancient history, multicultural values, art, music, national traditions, and tourism potential, while various informational materials were distributed. Visitors also learned about the country’s modern development and achievements in international cooperation.
